How Does the Automated Fare Collection System Work?
From the passenger tapping their City Card, Phone NFC or QR Ticket on the Bus Validator, to the Z Report reconciliation process — the whole process is managed on a single web-based cloud server architecture, through an immutable transaction ledger.
- Mifare Card / NFC Phone / QR Ticket / Credit Card isThe validator reads the ID identity, checks the card type and queries the current fare. It deducts the balance according to the card type of the passage.
- The Cloud Software Calculates the Fare Defined on the DeviceCurrent fare tariffs are synced from the server to the device; the fare can be calculated manually or synced from the cloud software to the device.

How does the SoleAkbil system work?
The passenger taps a card, phone NFC, QR ticket or bank card on the terminal; the terminal reads the identity, instantly gets the fare from the server based on card type, updates the balance and stores the transaction as an immutable ledger record.
Can the validator read cards or top up balance without an internet connection?
Yes. The Sole Akbil Bus Validator continues reading Mifare cards and topping up card balances without interruption even when the internet is down; the transaction is processed locally and instantly, queued, and synced automatically once connectivity returns. To prevent the fare being manipulated on the device, the server recalculates the transaction at sync and writes the correct amount to the immutable ledger. NFC phone and QR ticket access run online because they require server validation.
How many card types can be defined?
12 card types are supported in total — 10 fixed types (Full, Student, Free, Discounted, Retiree, Teacher, Monthly Pass, Limited-Use Ticket, Phone NFC Card, Family Support Card) plus 2 free-form custom types — each with its own fare defined separately.
How does passage with phone NFC work?
A passenger can tap the terminal with their phone's NFC feature without needing a physical card. This identity is registered in the system as a separate record tied to the same balance/fare logic as a physical card.
Is QR code ticketing available?
Yes, single-use QR tickets can be issued in bulk; once a QR ticket is used it is automatically invalidated by the system and cannot be reused.
Is bank card (credit card) payment accepted?
The terminal hardware is ready for bank card / contactless payment acceptance; bringing this flow live requires a separate payment acquirer integration and is evaluated on a per-project basis.
Is the system compliant with data protection regulations, and where is data stored?
The system is designed with an architecture that respects data protection requirements; hosting region and data retention terms are finalized on a per-project basis with the customer's (especially municipal/public institution) legal counsel.
Can multiple branches/vehicle fleets be managed from a single panel?
Yes, the system is multi-branch and multi-tenant; each branch/vehicle only sees its own data, while the central administrator can monitor the entire fleet from a single panel.
How is a lost or stolen card cancelled, and what happens to its balance?
A card is marked lost/stolen/cancelled from the panel and instantly becomes invalid on all terminals; the card's last balance can be viewed and transferred to a new card.
How is bank reconciliation and reporting handled?
The panel includes daily top-up/passage/refund summaries, per-device Z reports, and bank reconciliation tracking (deposited/pending); reports can be printed or exported to Excel.
