NFC and Mifare card systems let a passenger pass in seconds by tapping their contactless smart card or phone (NFC) on the validator. In Sole Akbil, every operator has their own Mifare sector key; a card from another system or a clone will not work and returns an "Unrecognized Card" error. Automatic pricing is applied by card type (Full, Student, Free, Discounted, Retiree, Teacher, Blue Card/Monthly Pass, Limited-Use Ticket, Phone NFC Card, Family Support Card and 2 Custom Card Types).
Mifare Smart Card
Mifare is a widely used contactless smart card technology worldwide. The card is carried in the passenger's pocket and read by being brought near the validator, without touching it. The balance is held on the card/account and works offline.
Passage With Phone NFC
NFC-capable phones can be used for contactless passage without needing a physical card - the passenger pays by bringing their phone near the validator.
Operator-Specific Card Security
Because every customer has their own card key, the system only recognizes your own cards. This is a cryptographic defense against clone and unauthorized card use - see the management panel and validator software for details.

Can a Mifare card be cloned?
Because each operator has its own sector key in Sole Akbil and server-side verification is performed, an unkeyed/cloned card will not work in the system and returns an "Unrecognized Card" error.
Is cardless passage with phone NFC possible?
Yes, NFC-capable phones can be used for passage without needing a physical card.
Is a different fare applied by card type?
Yes; 12 card types are supported — Full, Student, Free, Discounted, Retiree, Teacher, Blue Card/Monthly Pass, Limited-Use Ticket, Phone NFC Card, Family Support Card and 2 Custom Card Types — and the validator distinguishes them with a voice alert.
